Aerospace and Aviation
The aerospace industry is characterized by high industrial concentration, enormous research efforts and outstanding innovation. Unexpectedly, in the past few years, a strong trend was established in this industry sector, forcing the companies to confront special challenges. New large projects expand in unprecedented magnitudes. This leads to changes in global supply relationships, particularly with respect to the markets in Asia and Eastern Europe.
The average age of many aircrafts has been increasing more and more in recent years, thus highering maintenance costs and leading to correlative business opportunities. Structural changes in the aerospace industry lead to changes in business models of companies with strong impact on the maintenance and spare part business. A review of corporate strategy, particularly within SMEs, is therefore mandatory. A consolidation process is hence foreseeable, especially within SMEs, in order to furnish leading key players in the aviation and space technology with corresponding market shares.
